Certification data on the edge of the diamond

Any grown IQ Diamonds diamond can be accompanied by a Certificate of an independent gemological laboratory at the request of the buyer. This document specifies the exact parameters of the stone, the shape and type of cut, the characteristics of color and purity, the quality of polishing, cutting, symmetry. The certificate has a unique number and is immediately entered into the electronic database of the gemological laboratory that issued it.

Such a passport significantly increases the value of the stone, turning the diamond into an excellent investment.

IQ Diamonds are certified by non-profit organizations:

GIA Laboratory IGI Laboratory MSU Laboratory MGL Laboratory HDR Lab RGL Laboratory

Such a certificate is issued only for unadjusted diamonds. If the diamond is already fixed in the decoration, it is possible to obtain an Expert Opinion in independent gemological laboratories. In such a Conclusion, there must be a photo of the jewelry, a full description of the material from which the jewelry is made, a sample of the precious metal and a full description of the diamond (diamonds) fixed in the jewelry. Some IQ Diamonds products already have Certificates and Expert Opinions, which you can see in the product description card in the catalog on our website. Those diamonds or finished jewelry that do not have Certificates or Expert Opinions are sent by us for Certification at the request of the buyer for an additional fee according to the rates of independent gemological laboratories.

Why is the certificate required?

Why is the certificate required
  • The certificate from an independent, reputable laboratory contains reliable data on the key quality parameters of the diamond.
  • It ensures that the assessment is unbiased and accurate, as it is carried out by highly qualified gemologists using modern expensive equipment.
  • If you have a certificate, you can determine how classified the quality of a diamond is, and get detailed information about its size and physical characteristics.
  • The information provided in the certificate will help determine the value of the diamond.
  • It is easier to identify the stone with it.

Information in the certificate

Each stone that passes the test receives its own identification number, specified in the certificate.

The presence of certified diamonds confirms: we produce only high-quality natural stones, the high level of which is confirmed by the best gemological laboratories in the world.

Example of a GIA certificate

Required attributes of the certificate of conformity:

  • signature of the gemologist who conducted the examinationу
  • the print lab.

Any certificate includes 3 sections:

  1. General information about the diamond, including the identification number of the certificate that can be used to verify the authenticity of the diamond.
  2. Geometric parameters of the stone and the map of inclusions, if the document is designed as an A4 sheet.
  3. Additional information about the diamond. Here you can find more information about the features of the grown diamond. This data will help you gain a deeper understanding of the stone's characteristics.

On one of the side faces of certified grown diamonds, the certificate number is laser-printed, which can be seen when using a magnifying glass with a 10-fold magnification.

Compare the number engraved on the diamond with the number on the certificate. So you will determine the authenticity of the stone and the issued document. Please note that not all gemological laboratories, when certifying a stone, engrave the stone's rundist with the certificate number. Gemological laboratories such as HRD, IGI and GIA have such an engraving. MGL and MSU do not have such an engraving.

Compare the number engraved on the diamond with the number on the certificate.

Criteria for evaluating a diamond

Certification takes up to several weeks. During this time, gemologists will examine the most important qualitative characteristics of the stone and assign a grade to each of them. The inspection is carried out using specialized equipment.

Evaluation criteria - cut and purity

Cut

The company checks how much the stone shines on a scale from pool to excellent. The quality of the cut is evaluated by two parameters: polishing and symmetry.

Clarity

The first sign of high quality is the absolute transparency of the diamond. The fewer spots and inclusions, the more expensive the diamond. In the Certificate, the purity is evaluated as follows:

VVS1-VVS2 - the diamond has a few minor light inclusions that can only be detected through a 10x magnification.

VS1-VS2 - the diamond has a few small patches. They can be light-colored or darkish in crystal form.

SI1-SI2-SI3 - a diamond with small inclusions. Light under the ground, dark on the edges and the girdle.

I1/2/3 - stones with defects. Marked 1 have defects that do not affect the gloss. Type 2 and 3-affect the shine.

Color

The value of a stone is determined by its transparency. The gradation of the parameter varies from D to Z and fancy colors, for foreign standards and from 1 to 9-4 according to the TU RF system.

The presence of luminescence

To assess this indicator, a special installation with a long-wave UV light source is used. According to the standard, fluorescence can be of different intensity.

If it is completely absent, in the corresponding column there is an inscription-None (No). In this case, the diamond will not glow in ultraviolet light, but will look transparent and dark. Such diamonds are more expensive than others.

With strong or Very Strong luminescence, a bright glow appears around the diamond. Such stones may eventually develop a risk of color loss.

Diamonds with medium luminescence Faint, Light, Medium do not deteriorate over time.

Massa

It is calculated in carats. 0.2 g = 1 carat.

Evaluation criteria - color and presence of luminescence

You can buy grown diamonds of any shape and size, certified in the world's most reputable laboratories GIA, HDR, IGI, МГУ и MGL.
